1861-62 Springfield Civil War socket bayonet with locking ring mortise. Triangular shaped. Designed to fit onto the end of a musket so that the musket could be used as a sword when the enemy was too close to shoot. Old number 36-G. Leather scabbard is 1985-2904-002. Springfield Model 1862 rifled musket is 1985-2905-001.

Wooden grub box used by Gideon K. Gilbert of Glencoe when out collecting Soldier's Votes at area Forts for the Presidential Election of 1864. He traveled by horse & buggy in Minnesota and South Dakota. The box has square nails and once had leather hinges and newspaper lining.

Civil War era leather cartridge box with leather shoulder sling strap. Has four tin compartments inside to hold cartridges for a musket and a small envelope pouch under the large flap. The top section held loose or individual cartridges and wrapped bundles (of ten) cartridges would be stored underneath. A "US" plate is on the flap.

Pair of U.S. officer's gold bullion epaulets/shoulder boards from the 19th century Civil War and Indian War period. Each has a gilded brass crescent on the end with heavy bullion fringe and underside of yellow silk with metal fastener bar. Holes indicate there were stars or buttons attached. The epaulets usually were stored in an oval tin box to keep them dust free.
