Black & white photograhic postcard showing John Maetzold on a ladder lighting the first electric street light in Lester Prairie, MN in 1909. The double photo also shows him carrying the ladder. John Maetzold, father of donor Mavis Hildebrandt, was a policeman, played in the Lester Prairie band and was director of the Fireman's Band. They are standing near a telephone pole and a fire hydrant. The trees across the street were pruned heavily the spring before. Writing on back says "Arm. Day L P 1917." [World War I Armistice was declared November 11, 1918.]

The Farmers State Bank was located on Center Street next to the Weise & Kuhlmann store.
