Handmade brass flatiron with wooden handle. The iron is hollow so that charcoal can be inserted to make the iron hot. Made in Sweden in 1856. Bears date and initials of maker, C. P. D. in the center circle on the top of the iron. Also has a double row of nail indentaion decoration around the top edge. Brought from Sweden to McLeod County in 1869.
