Approximate location of this photo is the intersection of McLeod Ave. E. and Kingsley Avenue in Winsted. Winsted Lake is on the left. Note the piles of wood from the Winsted Roller Mills sawmill and the 1892 telephone poles. Rufo Vollmer's note: "Main horse and buggy road into town from Glencoe and all south for many years."

Sepia toned photographic postcard of the Winsted, Mn City Hall. This building was built in 1895 as a combination Fire Hall and City Hall. The brick building has a bell tower on the left. Winsted Lake is visible in the background. The card is addressed to Tena Sterner, New Germany, Mn. The Washington one cent stamp was cancelled on Nov. 24, 1913 at New Germany MN. The message wonders why Tena didn't visit on Sunday.

Postcard - First train on Luce Line over bridge at Winsted Lake
Sepia toned photographic postcard showing the first train on the Luce Line crossing over the bridge on Winsted Lake. The Luce Line first reached Winsted, MN on February 13, 1915, possibly captured by this photo. The original intent was to have the Luce line be electrically driven but the overhead wires were never installed. The engine shown is most likely gasoline-electric driven. People are assembled outside the train in the snow.
