Carving - Pair of wooden carved oxen-Wilbert H. Moenke
Wood carving of a pair of yoked oxen. They were pulling two wheel cart 1996-0014-013-B. Carved by Wilbert H. Moenke of Lester Prairie. He was a farmer and carving was his pastime all his life. He was born June 21, 1913, married Louise Rolf on May 18, 1941, and died on April 17, 1985 at age 71 years.

Scanned sepia toned photograph of young Josetta Patwell with two teams of yoked oxen. Taken in Glencoe about 1886. Her uncle Joseph Eheim lived in Glencoe for many years and ran a hotel. Josetta, the daughter of Frederick Patwell and Susan Eheim, was born in 1879 in Glencoe. Josetta moved to Spokane with her family about 1888, so the photo was taken prior to that date.
