Cotton sofa pillow cover with embroidered picture of a man in a sombrero hat pulling a donkey. Cactus and a palm gree complete the scene. Pillow top No.286A designed by American Thread Co. "Use 'Star' Brand Threads". The pillow cover was the first embroidered piece done by Carol Mae Clark (b.1931-d.1942).

Embroidered during the 1776-1876 US Centennial this antique, Folk Art Embroidery depicts an American Eagle, eight flags and motto "E Pluribus Unum". It was left unfinished at her death in 1878.
