    White cotton pointed bib with ribbon ties. Made for Milan Braun (1903-1980) by his mother Evelyn Sowle Braun (Mrs. Henry Braun Jr.). Appears to have been created from two ladies' handkerchiefs with corner of a lace one placed over corner of a plain one and hand stitched.

    Black chiffon blouse lined with rust colored at center front and back and on ends of the long sheer sleeves. Front is adorned with red & silver beads and geometric stitching. Beads and stitching also decorate a wide black panel at the waist. Three pairs of buttons close the sleeves at the wrist; snap left shoulder & left front closure with hook/eye closure at left waist.     Sepia toned photographic postcard with a formal portrait of Carl W. Braun dressed in World War I uniform. At the end of six months in France, Co. A, 37th Division was ordered to the front. However, Carl and several comrades got the flu and pneumonia and were shunted back to a hospital. Fate refused him a chance to get on the firing line for then the war was over.
