Description |
Black Knight Templar/Masonic commander coat and black trousers. Belonged to Axel Jensen (1911-1977), father of donor Margaret Hoffman. Gold braid around the red cross emblems on the collar lapels and sleeve cuffs is for a commander. Red & gold commander shoulder epaulets; metal belt carrier on back of coat. Coat label: Superior Uniform & Regalia Corp, New York. A. Jensen. No. 916 B-3. L-31, SL-17 1/2, B-43, W-39, S-42. Pins on left jacket pocket (left to right facing) are 1) gold cross medal of office with center crown hanging from Knights Templar Past Commander bar; 2) blue & white meritorious award ribbon with Knight's Templar L'Etoile Du Nord (The Star of the North) medal dated Oct. 23, 1865 featuring Maltese cross, cross & crown, & skull & bones symbols; 3) blue ribbon with Maltese cross membership medal with eagle design & E. Pluribus Unum on center medallion. A white/blue/white bar is pinned above the pocket. A Knights Templar red cross breast jewel found inside the lower left pocket is pinned inside the coat on the inner breast pocket. Black trousers have side stripes and button closure. Label: Capt. Axel Jensen, W35.5, L30.5. NRA Uniform, Manufactured Under Men's Clothing Code authority. It appears that Jensen used military trousers with his Knights Templar uniform jacket. As Captain he was commander of the National Guard at Hutchinson, MN. He served in both WWI and WWII. |
