Description |
Machine gun ammunition belt. Cloth with metal dividers & clips. Unreadable markings. From World War I. Old number 90. Believed to be an original World War I Vickers Machine Gun belt with early brass long dividers every third round, which indicated how far to insert the cartridge in the belt. Each belt has a brass leader at each end, allowing the belt to be inserted from either end. The leaders were marked with the belt capacity (250 rounds), caliber (.303), the Ordnance Broad Arrow, manufacturer’s initials and dated 1916, 1917 or 1918. |
