Cynthia Ann Schulz Fallon wedding gown, October 25, 1980 |
Description |
Ivory satin wedding dress with sheer net overlay, floral lace bodice and skirt trim, and iridescent pearl beads. The long sleeves are sheer net with buttoned lace at the wrists. Zipper back closure with buttons sewn along placket for decoration. Flounced and layered skirt descends into a slight train at the back. Cynthia Schulz purchased her dress at Aubony in Hutchinson about a month before her wedding to Michael Lee Fallon on October 25, 1980. [Becky Piehl was the proprietor and she was preparing for her own wedding to Wm. "Bill" Haas in November, 1980.] Cynthia's original dress had been ordered in St. Cloud nearly a year before. It was supposedly being made in New York and she anxiously waited to hear news of the dress arriving at the St. Cloud store. She received a telephone call in September stating that her dress style was not being produced any more. That lead her to Becky and her wedding dress from Aubony. The museum has a wedding photo of Cynthia Ann Schulz Fallon and Michael Lee Fallon 2010-0137-001 and a photo of her wedding dress fitting at Aubony 2010-0137-002. Another wedding mishap involved the bride's headwear. She didn't wear a veil, but had ordered a flower garland from the florist. When it arrived the morning of the wedding it was not a garland, but a headband. So she wore nothing on her head except hair. The third thing to go wrong was she had a bad case of strep throat. Cynthia was the daughter of Herb & June Schulz; Michael was the son of Michael & Eleanor Fallon. Both bride and groom were born and educated in Hutchinson and still reside in Hutchinson. The wedding took place at Peace Lutheran Church, Hutchinson with Pastor James Lauer performing the ceremony. Music was provided by Norb Malenke (organ), Sandra Hall (flute), and Jeffrey Green (bag pipes). Bride's matrons were Sandra Hall & Mary Melin, sisters of the bride, and Peg Wiggert, sister of the groom. Groomsmen were Doug Hagen, Neil Wiggert, Leo Fallon. Ringbearer was Carl Melin; flower girl was Sara Melin. The wedding dance was at Gibbon Ballroom, Gibbon, Minnesota. |
