U.S. Navy duffel bag marked "H.W. Schulz". White canvas; six brass grommets; rope cinch. World War II era. Belonged to donor's father Herbert Walter Schulz, born November 20, 1923. He entered active duty in the U.S. Navy on June 19, 1943 and was honorably discharged on February 20, 1946. He was sent to Hawaii to recover from pneumonia, then sent home. Most of his service time was served in the Pacific, including Bougainville, Okinawa & Guadalcanal. He was also on Pelelui Palau Island and the Admiralty Islands. He was part of a Construction Battalion (SeaBees). |
