Loom woven wicker baby stroller by Lloyd. c.1920s. Semi-collapsible handle for storage, reclining back, two large wire wheels and two small metal wheels. Has a long metal handle to push with the child facing the stroller operator. Leather safety belt embossed "Lloyd"; metal foot plate with label: "Lloyd Loom Products, Menominee, Michigan, Method Patented Oct. 16, 1917, Other Patents Pending". Inventor Marshall Burns Lloyd and his Minneapolis company Lloyd Manufacturing — a manufacturer of wicker baby buggies--located in Menominee, Michigan and in 1917 Marshall Lloyd invented an automated process for weaving a man-made wicker and the Lloyd Loom was born. |
