Hutchinson, Minnesota Coat of Arms |
Description |
Coat of Arms wooden plaque for the City of Hutchinson. In 1980, the 125th anniversary year of the founding of Hutchinson, Minnesota, this coat of arms was developed and registered. The design and colors are based on the ancestral arms of the singing Hutchinson family, founders of the city. On the shield of red and blue there rules a rampant lion of silver with claws unsheathed. Over the lion are four gold cross-crossletts representing the four townships surrounding the city. Above the shield rests a helmet with a red and silver mantling. From a golden crown over the helmet arises a cockatrice or guardian serpent. A scroll below the shield contains the motto, "Gerit Crucem Fortiter" ("He bears the cross bravely"). |
