Description |
High School class ring from the Class of 1934. Incised inside with initials "E H S". Belonged to Edward H. Schmidt who graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1934. Crown of ring is worn bare but the letters "HS" can be seen at the base of the design. The numerals "19" and "34" are on opposite sides of the ring beneath what appears to be torches of wisdom. Gold ring. Edward H. Schmidt was born January 26, 1915, son of William "Bill" & Minnie Schmidt. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1934. He entered U.S. Army active duty April 17, 1942 and served first as a Cook for 11 months and then with the 35th Field hospital (WWII) in Africa and Italy as a Medical Technician 4th grade. He was wardmaster and supervised the work of 2 men. Gave medicines, shots and pills as directed. Assisted nurses in bathing and feeding patients. Kept temperature books and shot records on patients. Served overseas 27 months and wore 3 battle stars. He was honorably discharged November 24, 1945. |
