Olive drab U.S. Army wool knit hood (balaclava). Label: American Red Cross. Belonged to Lowell H. Baysinger who wore it in Korea. Lowell was born September 29, 1923 at Fernando, the son of Myron & Martha Kaping Baysinger. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1942. He was drafted June 19, 1946 by the U.S. Army and discharged May 9, 1947. His basic training was at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was stationed in Pusan, Korea with the 6th Division Artillery. He worked as a sales clerk in the commissary selling groceries to wives of officers. Previous to military service Lowell worked for National Tea Company, Hutchinson from 1942 -1946 in the local grocery store. |
