Description |
Red painted wooden artist's box with four metal hinged trays inside filled with paints, brushes and other artist supplies. Box has leather handle and four hasps and is marked "Jake" on the back.. It belonged to George "Jake" Jacobson and was used for holding supplies for painting signs in the early 1900s to 1940s. Jake was in business on south Main Street in Hutchinson, MN for many years as proprietor of "Jake's Gentlemen's Club" and had a workshop in the rear where he pursued his sideline as a sign painter. Donor Bud Jacobson was Jake's son. George E. "Jake" Jacobson was born in 1887 and died in 1961. |
