Hulda Elling Peterson wedding dress, 1943 |
Description |
Wedding dress of white slipper satin and lace with a train. Bodice has a sweetheart neckline, long sleeves, buttons down back. Dress was worn by Hulda Elling Peterson for her wedding to Kenneth Peterson on February 18, 1943, Hamburg Lutheran Church, Rev. H. J. Bouman. The new price of the gown was $25. The reception was at the Empress Cafe on Main Street in Hutchinson, south of the hotel. The father of the groom wouldn't allow drinking beer so they went back to Hamburg to drink with Hulda's family. It was a nasty night and they didn't own a car. They came home as sole passengers in a Greyhound bus because the driver was a friend of the groom. The wedding photograph is 2004-0237-002. |
