Henry Klima's large metal trunk |
Description |
Large metal trunk used for carrying equipment of Henry Klima's Orchestra, 1930-1943. The trunk was painted by Les C. Kouba. Made of metal sheeting with an accordion painted on the front and name "Henry Klima's Orchestra, Rt 2, Silver Lake, MN. Old and New Time Music". On each end of the trunk are pictures of a musician with an accordion. A photograph of the trunk attached to the rear of a 1929 Chrysler is object #1991-0018-001. Members of the band: Irwin Burich-saxophone; Henry Klima-accordion; Charlie Novak-saxophone; Edward Klima-drums; James Snegosky-trumpet; Grace Svoboda-piano; Bernie Stibal-tuba. Henry Klima began playing at age eleven with the Syncopated Kolaches. Later he played with Wally Pikal and his band for 17 years from 1950-1967. |
