Box for one pound Higgins No. 2 American Express Sealing Wax. Higgins Ink Co., Inc, Brooklyn NY. Originally had 10 sticks superfine; now contains 10 small pieces of red wax sticks of 3 sizes. The wax was a necessary item to seal the envelope of election returns. They would sew across the opening in the envelope and then heat the wax with a lighted candle and put a large drop of wax on the envelope opening, then press with an election seal, such as1985-2776-002. |
