Description |
Two-piece blue handsewn wedding dress of Betsy Larson who married Hans Hagen March 11, 1894. The museum has the wedding photograph 2008-0324-001. The top features mutton sleeves, bone stays, blue pleated silk inset and blue silk ruffles and bow trim on front and sleeves. The skirt is lined in brown with self ruffles and blue silk bow effect around the front hem edge and self ruffles on back hem edge. The skirt back is gathered and extends into a sweep. Has extra stiff fabric facing inside the bottom skirt edge to prevent wear. Hook & eye closure. Betsy was the daughter of Amund and Gunhild Larson, pioneer settlers of Bergen Township. Hans Hagen came to America from Norway c. 1880 and settled in Bergen Township.
