Description |
White cotton duck U. S. Navy uniform jumper and pants. Top has a blue stripe around the right sleeve shoulder seam and a flap collar. Trousers have button fly. Belonged to Donald H. Ostlie, father of the donor. The initials "DHO" and name "Ostlie, D. H. 745" are stamped inside the uniform. Donald Ostlie enlisted in the U. S. Navy on June 26, 1944 and was sent over with the amphibious forces to fight in World War II in the South Pacific at Okinawa and Iwo Jima. He was one of many who landed in Japan on V-Day. |
