Description |
Black felt Shore Patrol arm band with yellow letters "SP' and black ties. Belonged to Charles Barnum, Sr. in WWI. Charles Earl Barnum, Sr. was born March 6, 1893, Sumter Township. He entered the U. S. Navy March 21, 1918 , was active until June 20, 1919, and was discharged September 30, 1921. While in the U. S. Navy he was a musician First Class and played under John Philip Sousa in the Liberty Loan Drives. He made seven trips across the Atlantic Ocean, returning with troops on the U. S. Agamemnon. |
