Description |
Hutchinson Band uniform jacket and pants. Worn by Gust Kurth. Tan duck fabric. Wide maroon braid and narrow black braid trims around mandarin collar, down front, around bottom, along two back seams and around cuffs. Matching wide maroon trim down pant legs. Button fly on pants. Made by DeMoulin Bros. & Co., Greenville, Illinos. Gustav John Kurth was born April 22, 1877, son of Fred and Fredericka//Sophia Schroeder Kurth. On April 19, 1901 he married Wilhelmina Tews. Gust played in the Kurth Famly Orchestra, known as the "Little German Band" and, following in his father's footsteps, Gust became director of the Cedar Mills Band. He spent his life working as a salesman and died May 9, 1963. |
