President's Award plaque presented to Mary Monkemeier for Outstanding and Dedicated Service to the Third District American Legion Auxiliary, May 19, 1979. An American Legion Auxiliary button is at the top. "Presented by Elaine Hein on behalf of the Third District American Legion Auxiliary Past Presidents" is written on the back. Mary Moravec Monkemeier was born in Glencoe Township, McLeod County, July 15, 1901, the daughter of Anton and Antonia Zich Moravec. On November 6, 1924 she married Henry C. Monkemeier. She was especially active in the American Legion Auxiliary and served as Third District President in 1969-1970. She served on the Dept. of Mn American Legion Auxiliary Executive Committee and received many awards for her services. She served on many District 3 Chairmanships and Committees and was awarded Auxiliary Member of the Year in 1979. She held the Auxiliary very dear to her heart and was devoted to the Glencoe unit, its District and the Department. She died on May 15, 1990. |
