"Neverout Insulated Kerosene Safety Lamp". Patented by Rose Mfg. Co., Philadelphia PA. A solid brass kerosene lamp for a horse or horseless carriage, bicycle, or early automobile from about 1900. Has large clear magnifying front lens and two jeweled ruby red lenses that may be seen from behind & from the side in the dark. Polished brass with a bail handle, embossed trademark on cap, mounting bracket, hinged wick access door, & wick adjustment knob at top of font. [In 1897 the Rose Mfg Co. of Philadelphia commissioned a musical march in honor of the "Neverout Patent Insulated-Kerosene Safety Lamp". The "Neverout" was the "light of the epoch" for bicycles and carriages.] |
