Black padlock & two keys given to donor Heston Benson in 1935 by Alfred Biehoffer, Sheriff of McLeod County. Benson was told that the padlock was from the old McLeod County jail in Glencoe, which later became the Wadel residence. In addition, Benson was told it was from the jail cell that held Dorman Musgrove and Henry A. Cingmars, who shot Sheriff Joseph Rogers in 1896. An informational tag written by Benson is attached to the padlock. The padlock has two large keys tied to it by a thick piece of twine. The padlock is numbered #155 and it is stamped: Romer & Co., Neward, N.J. - PAT'D Oct. 20th, 1874. |
