Description |
Red neckerchief with patch for Order of the Arrow Tonkawampus Lodge 16, Viking Council, BSA in the corner. Patch has image of American Indian with an arrow in his hair, three teepees and evergreen trees. Belonged to donor Arthur James Benjamin, who was Scoutmaster of Hutchinson, MN Troop 246. The Tonkawampus Lodge existed at Camp Tonkawa in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It became OA lodge 16. Totanhan Nakaha was established in 2006 from the former Agaming and Tonkawampus Lodges. Arrowmen were taught the ideals of servant leadership. The Order of the Arrow (OA) is the National Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). The society was created by E. Urner Goodman, with the assistance of Carroll A. Edson, in 1915 as a means of reinforcing the Scout Oath and the Scout Law. The purpose of the Order of the Arrow is to recognize those Scout campers who best exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives, to develop and maintain camping traditions and spirit, to promote Scout camping, and to crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership in cheerful service to others. |
