Description |
U. S. Army olive drab wool military garrison cap. Worn by Edward H. Schmidt in World War II. Edward H. Schmidt was born January 26, 1915, son of William "Bill" & Minnie Schmidt. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1934. He entered U.S. Army active duty April 17, 1942 and served first as a Cook for 11 months and then with the 35th Field hospital (WWII) in Africa and Italy as a Medical Technician 4th grade. He was wardmaster and supervised the work of 2 men. Gave medicines, shots and pills as directed. Assisted nurses in bathing and feeding patients. Kept temperature books and shot records on patients. Served overseas 27 months and wore 3 battle stars. He was honorably discharged November 24, 1945. |
