Description |
Brown fur cape from the early 1900s. Worn with suits in fall and early spring. Has a single large button closure. Belonged to Josephine "Phoena" Stark Dahl, mother of donor Elsa Dahl Seeley Young. Lydia Josephine "Phoena" Stark was born August 19, 1886 , daughter of Lars Johann Stark and his second wife Brita. "Phoena" graduated from Hamline University and became a schoolteacher. On June 6, 1914 she married Richard Werner Dahl. She was a charter member of the League of Women Voters in Hutchinson and gave presentations in support of consolidation of Minnesota's country schools into larger school districts. |
