Framed sepia toned photograph of four generations of women taken before 1915. The woman standing is Emma Tonn Thiel, sister to Helmuth Tonn; older woman seated at left is (Pauline Hemschart) Benkowski, grandmother to Emma Tonn Thiel and Helmuth Tonn; child in center is Laverna Thiel Klaustermeier, daughter of Emma Thiel and niece to Helmuth Tonn; woman on right is Ottilie Benkowski Tonn, mother to Helmuth Tonn. Oval gold painted wooden frame with floral decoration and convex glass. A 1919 newspaper was applied to back of frame and it is stamped "Made and sold by Chicago ____Company, Chicago". Helmuth Herman Tonn married Viola Rosella Bergmann and they were the parents of Rev. Randell E. H. Tonn, husband of donor. Rev. Randell (Randy) Tonn was the nephew of Emma Thiel, great-grandson of (Pauline Hemschart) Benkowski, cousin of Laverna Thiel Klaustermeier, and grandson of Ottilie Benkowski Tonn. |
