Color portrait print of an old man with a scruffy beard and wrinkled face. He is wearing a fur hat and fur collared coat. Titled: "Albert". Photographed by Milton Brinkman; color by Lydia Brinkman, Brinkman Studio, Hutchinson, MN. The print earned a Gold Seal Award from the Minnesota Professional Photographers Assn., Inc. and was accepted for the MPPA Loan Collection. It was a 1976 Merit Award Print from the 85th Annual Exhibition of the Professional Photographers of America. 100 points is indicated on the reverse and a color proof photo is affixed to the back. A matted identical print is 2015-0211-011. The man is identified as Albert Camp, Hutchinson, MN. After his daily stop at the liquor store for his 1/2 pint of liquor he went to the Hutch Cafe where people bought his coffee. Milt Brinkman thought Albert would be a good subject since he had no money and had nothing else to do. Albert Camp was born October 6, 1900 in Kenmore, ND. During his working years he was employed as a farm laborer and coal miner. He enjoyed the outdoors, visiting with people and sharing glimpses of the past. He was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. He died September 6, 1985. |
