Sepia toned photograph of the interior of a Hutchinson, MN dry goods store. Marked Braun & Sowle on reverse. The photo matches aspects of interior photo 1985-0253-001 identified as Braun & Sowle. An identical newspaper photo 2012-0241-004 indicates that Milan Braun thought it was not a Braun & Sowle store because of the pulley-operated money system visible in the left portion of the photo and because it appears there was an archway midway back on the right. The ceiling appears to match that of 1988-0399-001 Braun & Sowle with different light fixtures. Three undentified female clerks are on the left near bolts of fabric on shelving. Displays on trellises and mannequins are above them. Wire stools are along the counter for customers. Two unidentified female clerks are on the right near displays of scarves and gloves. Boxes of merchandise are stacked on shelves behind them. A vase of roses is on the glass counter at right. Photo is mounted on gray photo board. |
