Black and white photograph of Dr. Jay H. Burns, longtime dentist in Hutchinson, MN. When Dr. Burns (1880-1961) died he was believed to be the oldest practicing dentist in Minnesota. He was Hutchinson's longest practicing professional, having begun in 1903; appointments were scheduled at his 107 First Avenue SW office on the date of his death. Dr. Burns was active in civic life: Kiwanis, several Masonic orders, Jaycees, Union Club, Gopher Campfire, and the Park, Library, and school Boards. In 1958 he donated a farm valued at $50,000 to be used for establishing a home for the aged - it was named Burns Manor in his honor.
