Description |
Sepia toned photograph showing the interior of the Corner Bar, Hutchinson, MN. c.1900s. Unidentified are the three bartenders and 10 patrons at the bar or playing pool at the two tables. The glass display cabinet and bar are raised from the floor. The glass display case has a variety of cigar brands. At the front of the bar is a hanging towel. Four spittoons and/or tobacco butt cans are on the wooden floor. Light fixtures are hanging in the center of the room and above the mirror behind the bar. Glass display cases above the bar house mounted animals and fowl. The poster on the back wall proclaims that the Meeker county fair will take place at Dassel on October 17 & 18 with dances at the opera house; no year is visible. At the far end of the bar appears to be an exhaust vent extending through the ceiling. Photo is mounted on gray photo board. The brick building at 3 Main Street North - the northeast corner of Washington Avenue and Main Street - dates to 1887. The original owner, C.W. Theuringer, rented it to Emil and Will Kiesler as a saloon. The upstairs offices were occupied by doctors and dentists. Subsequent owners included John Huderle and, beginning in the early 1930s, Z.E. Bolduc. |
