Scanned Minneapolis Star photographs of David Eisenhower and Julie Nixon durng their visit to the Hutchinson Water Carnival on June 30, 1968. The grandson of former President Dwight D. Eisenhower and the daughter of former Vice President Richard M. Nixon were honorary marshals of the Water Carnival parade and attended a party in Minneapolis for state delegates to the Republican National Convention. Other newspaper clippings from the event are 2017-0081-002 & 2017-0081-003. David Eisenhower and Julie Nixon were married December 22, 1968 in New York City. Julie's father Richard Milhous Nixon served as the 37th President of the United States from 1969 until 1974, when he became the only U.S. president to resign from office. |
