On the west side of Hennepin Avenue from right to left: the Fire Dept. engine house built in 1880; City Hotel; Furniture Store; North Star Saloon; Billiard Hall; and on the northwest corner of Hennepin and 11th Street (at that time Franklin) is the Bank of Glencoe, built in 1878. Across the street to the south is A. H. Reed & Company - note the windmill; the Merchant's Hotel, newer brick part built in 1882. Wooden part to the left is the original Pioneer Hotel built in 1856, at one time called the National Hotel. Other buildings are unknown. Original photo: Nelson Photography, Glencoe, MN. |
