Eheim Park Before WPA Took Over |
Description |
Black and white photograph of the site that would become Eheim Park in Hutchinson, MN at the corner of Main Street and 3rd Ave. NW. Note the railroad tracks that ran just north of the site. From photo album 1988-0055-000. Handwritten on album page, "This was Eheim Park before W.P.A. [Works Progress Administration] took over. Your Park Board sponsored all W.P.A. work, as many as 235 men on the roll at one time. Many projects such as bathhouse stone work on the river, cemetery, North and South parks, street work, disposal plant; all federal aid. Did not cost our city a cent." |
