Wedding portrait photograph of Hulda Elling, who married Kenneth Peterson on February 28, 1943. Hulda is holding her flowers with a big bow. Taken by Birkeland, Hutchinson, Minnesota. In a folder. Museum has her dress 2004-0237-001. The wedding ceremony was performed by Rev. H. J. Bouman at the Hamburg Lutheran Church. The reception was at the Empress Cafe on Main Street in Hutchinson, south of the hotel. The father of the groom wouldn't allow drinking beer so they went back to Hamburg to drink with Hulda's family. It was a nasty night and they didn't own a car. They came home as sole passengers in a Greyhound bus because the driver was a friend of the groom. New price of the gown was $25.00. |
