Sepia toned photograph of a horse drawn freight wagon stacked with trunks in front of the Merchants Hotel in Hutchinson, MN. The driver is Charley Senescall c.1900. Baseman's Building is across the street at right. Charley Senescall, operator of one of many dray line companies, assisted traveling salesmen who arrived in Hutchinson by train every three or four months. He would haul trunks filled with salesmen's samples from the railroad depots to the Merchants Hotel where shopkeepers could view them. Mounted on photo board. |
