    Sepia-toned photographic postcard of four young men, members of the Winsted, MN band. Ferdinand Rhode stands at right rear, the others are unidentified. Ferdinand played slide trombone. Uniforms consist of cuffed trousers; jackets of matching color with contrast trimming on sleeves, collars, and down front of jacket; visored caps with emblem on front.

    Chrome finish three-valve trombone. Played by Edmund Kappel in the Winsted Community Band in the 1930s. Stored in wooden box case 2002-0097-002. The name on the bell is "Diamond" It also is marked WJ Dyer & Bros. Logo has a diamond with a "D" inside it. Other markings on the instrument are on the valve casings: 28, 29, & 30.     Off-White band hat with black grosgrain ribbon hatband, gold braid, and black visor. Label: Browning King & Co., Minneapolis Minn. The name E. L. Kappel is written inside the hat. Edmund Kappel played in the Winsted Community Band in the 1930s. His trombone and case are 2002-0097-001 & -002, music holder 2002-0097-004, valve oil 2002-0097-005.
