Curling iron heater. Made by Simplex Electric Company, Boston. Has short electrical cord with end that screws into a light socket. Used about 1905 in the Felton Vollmer residence at Winsted from electricity provided by a storage battery added to the dynamo which provided electricity for the mill. Ornate polished metal on a marble base.

Black & white sheet film negative #79 of a photograph of Felton Vollmer's "old" ice boat on Winsted Lake. Two Vollmer boys (possibly Rob and Roy) are aboard the ice boat. Felton Vollmer is on ice skates, tipping his hat to the boaters. Felton was reported to have been a magnificent skater and did figure 8's all over the lake. The ice boat is powered by two sails - one of the front rudders is in the air.
