Ladies heated the metal over a wood stove or fire and then placed their hair between the tongs and metal plate to produce a crimp in their hair resulting beautiful waves. Used by women in the August/Doris Otto or Ruben/Martha Sanken family.

    2 piece Electric Marcel Waver by Lawndale Products Inc, Master Appliances Division Model M.H. 1 Silver oval tube atop electrified black base with on/off switch and separate tong type two prong crimper of metal with wooden handles. The crimper was inserted into the silver tube for heating and applied to hair to create a marcel style wave.
