    White linen basque with a close-fitting bodice from the shoulders to the waist extending past the waistline over the hips. Front button closure; 3/4 sleeve. A basque was worn over a hoopskirt in the early Victorian era or bustle in the later Victorian era. This basque was worn by Abby Hutchinson (1829-1892).

  4. Corset - Small corset

    Small corset exhibited at 1876 McLeod County Agricultural Society event. Tag reads "Corset worn in 1776 by a great aunt of a lady of this town - Abby Hutchinson (sister of Asa Hutchinson)". Name "Elizabeth B. Chace" is written inside the back. Elizabeth Chace was the wife of Asa Hutchinson. Corset has floral and loop quilted stitching throughout and front grommets for lacing.

Marquetry design around the top edge and rosette around the sound hole suggest that it might be a C. F. Martin guitar, but label is blank.     Chalk portrait of young Jane Abbey Anderson, daughter of Samuel G. Anderson Jr. and Margaret Ames Anderson. Jane was born March 31, 1914 in Hutchinson, MN and died of spinal meningitis on April 30, 1925 at age 11 years, 1 month. She was survived by two sisters and two brothers. Her grandmother was Abby Hutchinson Anderson. The convex oval chalk portrait is colored in pastels and shows the young girl with a Dutch style cap and matching bodice....
