Color photographic postcard with a large building in center which is flying the U. S. flag and to the right is a domed building. Several men, women and children are standing in front of the building. The card is labeled: "The Aquarium, Belle Isle, Detroit, Mich. The description on the card back states: The Aquarium, Belle Isle, Detroit, Mich. The Aquarium contains specimens of live fish of all kinds and is one of the most interesting studies on the Island. All sight seeing cars stop here." Published by Wolverine News Co., Detroit, Mich. A-17416. The Belle Isle Aquarium opened on Aug. 18, 1904 and was shuttered April 3, 2005. On Sept. 15, 2012, the landmark reopened to the public.
