Black & white photographic postcard showing the Red Cross-U.S.O. Canteen, Union Station, Portland, Oregon. Erected for the Comfort and Convenience of the Members of the Armed Forces by Steam and Marine Fitters Union No. 235 of Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. Postcard belonged to U. S. Marine Willmer "Joe" Unglaub. Willmer "Joe" George Unglaub was born March 6, 1926, son of Otto and Augusta Soeffker Unglaub. On June 24, 1944 he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific through October of 1945. He was honorably discharged on January 18, 1946. On November 30, 1947 he married Delores Witthus at First Lutheran Church, Glencoe, by Rev. A. Streufert. Willmer Unglaub died January 13, 2003. |
