Black & white photographic postcard with view of Hutchinson, MN Main Street looking north at Second Avenue South. Street lights and automobiles are on each side of the street. A traffic signal light is located at the intersection corner and a light hangs in the center of the intersection. This post card was sent to Orvel Setterlee, Westfield, Mass. from Hutchinson, MN, postmarked June 27, 1956, with a Jefferson two cent stamp. There is a number 504 on the front of the post card. The message mentions travel plans and the advice to not work too hard. Businesses, from left, include Adelaide's Beauty Shop, Kuehl's Variety, A. B. Jorgenson, Hager Jewelry, Henke's Café, Albin-Carlsen Walgreen Agency Drugs, Citizens Bank and Brauns. The 20-foot tall clock in front of Hager Jewelry has been there since 1946. On the center far horizon is Maplewood Academy. From the right are Gilbert's Super Value (Opera House Building) Ostrom's Hardware, McGannon's music store, Quast's Furniture, The Smart Shop, Rex Theater, Fischer's Bakery, S & L, and Library Square. |
