World War II letter by Robert Stearns |
Scope & Content |
Photocopy of a World War II letter written by Bob Stearns to his parents from "Somewhere," dated December 24, 1944. Message of loneliness, memories, and future hopes and dreams for Christmas as he is on a 3-day Christmas duty shooting big guns whenever the infantry and observers say they need them. "giving this one (Christmas) up so that there can be memories of future ones - next year's will be the first." The letter was received January 5, 1945. [This typewritten letter is presumably a copy of a handwritten letter.] Bob Stearns was the brother to donor Mary Stearns Anderson. |
