Glencoe, MN |
Scope & Content |
Black and white photographic postcard of Glencoe Mn c1909 showing Franklin Ave from the east. The Enterprise building on the right with the fire stationwith it's bell tower next, then a hotel building. There appears to be a light suspended above the street in front of the fire station. There is also a cast iron horse trough in front of the station. The street is lined with people dressed in summer clothes, possibly in anticipation of a parade. With the display of flags and the date of the card, it would possibly be the Fourth of July. The card was sent to Millicent Purdy of Lake City MN and has a one cent stamp cancelled on August 23, 1909 in ___, South Dakota. The message speaks of a package of old stockings, that it is still hot and that Purdy is better. Signed by Nell. |
