Advertisement poster for the Hutchinson Sleigh, manufactured by Hutchinson Machine and Foundry. Pictured are double runner sleighs, one with Sumner Bros printed on it. On the reverse side, are hand written pencil notes, about the science of Matter and Molecules. The writer is unknown. Poster is on a thin, tan color paper with black writing. The Hutchinson Machine and Foundry Co. was built on a large lot on the east side of Main Street North in Hutchinson, Mn. and was torn down in 1908. The owners were W. H. Andrews, A. H. Buckmaster, and C. F. Merty, with Buckmaster as the managing partner. Buckmaster (born in 1859) learned his mechanical engineering trade "in the school of practical experience" and applied it to the firm's specialty, "absolutely perfect" sleighs. |
