Sepia toned photographic postcard showing the J.J. Brechet house, Glencoe, MN in a winter time setting. The house, located on the corner of 13th and Ives Streets, was built by J.J. Brechet, it is said, as an enticement to his fiancee back east. It was completed in 1899. Through the years the house has been called the Glencoe Stone Castle or just the Glencoe Castle. This house is still standing and has changed hands many times in the interim. most notably the restoration that took place in the 1990s by Jan & Bill Teschendorf. In 2000 it was owned by Schoenecks who operated a Bed & Breakfast at the castle. Artura Trademark card. |
